PostgreSQL Community Meet-up
On October 8th, we hosted an inspiring and insightful PostgreSQL meet-up at our office in Kontich. The room was filled with people from different backgrounds – experienced database experts, beginners, and open-source fans – all coming together to learn more and connect with others who share the same passion for open source and PostgreSQL.

A quick look back at our agenda
The evening started with a warm welcome, snacks, and drinks—because what’s a meetup without good company and good conversation? It was a chance for attendees to connect, share their experiences, and geek out over all things PostgreSQL.
Diving deep into the world of Postgres
After the welcome, our speakers shared some serious insights in two inspiring sessions:
- Guardians of the database
Guy Gyles, our PostgreSQL security expert, shared practical tips and tools to protect your database from today’s cyber threats. He didn’t just talk theory; he showed us how to build a fortress around our data. - Building a board game chatbot
Matt Cornillon, a database engineer and open-source advocate, blew our minds with a demo of a board game chatbot powered by Postgres, AI, and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation). It was a fun and innovative example of how PostgreSQL can power next-generation applications.
Open source: all about the people!
The best part of the evening? The connections. After the talks, we had a chance to chat, share ideas, and build relationships with fellow PostgreSQL enthusiasts. That’s the magic of open source – it’s a community of passionate people who are always willing to learn, share, and support each other.
